Promotional Products
Measuring tapes and
Flashlights
There are a number of ways to incorporate promotional products into
ongoing promotions and special events. You
want those promotional items to be memorable and “wow” potential
customers. I hope our
suggestions inspire you to use these inexpensive items to get noticed
and build your business.
Think about your marketing
target audience. What age
group are they? What are
their interests? Your
promotional products should cater to whatever group you are targeting.
Are they college age kids?
How about a
notebook,
backpack,
pen set
or
highlighter.
A practical and useful item
like a
mouse pad
is a great way to stay noticed and create new business. It's a constant
reminder of the services you provide or any specials you may offer.
One independent computer
technician printed his name and number on a mouse pad and left it with
his customers when he serviced their computers. When his customers were
struggling with a computer issue, his name and number was right there in
front of them. A service
call was just a phone call away.
A traditional and effective
promotional product is a
pen with your business name and telephone number.
It’s a gift that will be used for months and keep your business
at the forefront of your customer’s mind during the day.
Leave a pen with a potential customer when you make a sales call.
Send a pen with a note pad to your ongoing customers for
Christmas.
Calendars
are also an item that makes a good promotional gift.
For a thank-you gift, a real estate agent gave a calendar to each
customer that purchased a house from him. The agent's name and number
were printed at the top of the calendar.
Beneath that he listed numbers for the cable and fire department
along with the numbers for the local gas, electric and water services.
This would certainly be useful
information to keep in a handy spot.
Magnets
are more than just something to hold your child’s artwork on the
refrigerator. They’re a
great and inexpensive way to advertise your services or specials, such
as a take-out menu for a restaurant along with their phone number.
Magnets come in various
shapes and sizes, so you can customize them to fit your business or a
particular promotion. If you're promoting healthy teeth, try printing
your message on a tooth-shaped magnet.
Some magnets are even large enough to publicize team schedules
for soccer, baseball, football or any other sport.
While they're great for
to-do lists,
sticky notes
also make great coupons. Just print your coupon on each note and give
customers many reasons to stop by. In addition, you can use them as
to-go menus. The customer would check off the items they wanted before
turning in their order - this saves you and them valuable time.
For a unique thank-you or employee appreciation gift, try making an
ice bucket
into a gift basket.
They're much sturdier than wicker baskets and will get used long
after the goodies are gone. Top it off with cellophane and a bow!
Use a type of promotional product
that relates to your service. Are you a realtor? If you are, you may
consider handing out small
measuring tapes
to home owners. If you are a business that sells products, the best
promotional items would be samples of the products themselves. For
example, if you sell makeup, you could give away selected samples. One
benefit of this is branding. Branding is essential to small business
owners, contractors, and realtors. Branding and logo identification
represent and become the business. The real estate business is the face
on the business card or letterhead. Branding with promotional items that
are of use to your potential customer will help keep your business fresh
in the minds of people.
